Frog - Free Pattern

Frogs are so cool! The way they grow from a tadpole into a terrestrial animal is amazing. There's lots of different frogs, so look into the ones native to your area! You might find that there's some really neat ones living near you! Also see my tadpole pattern here!


Frog

Materials

  • Yarn (I used Loops & Threads Soft Classic Solid yarn)
  • Crochet hook (I used a 4.5mm hook)
  • Safety eyes
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stuffing
  • Stitch marker
  • Scissors

 

Abbreviations (US terms)

  • ch - chain
  • sc - single crochet
  • inc - increase
  • dec - decrease
  • hdc - half double crochet
  • dc - double crochet
  • tc - triple crochet
  • ss - slip stitch
  • FLO - front loops only
  • BLO - back loops only
  • mc - magic circle
  • (...) - repeat the part in parenthesis specified number of time
  • (#) - number of stitches after finishing the round

 

Finished Size

4 inches from nose to toes. May be different for everyone based on yarn thickness, hook size, and tension.

4. [2 sc], sc, (inc, sc) x3, [3 sc] (15)
5. [2 sc, inc], (2 sc, inc) x3, [2 sc, inc] (20)
6. [4 sc],  12 sc, [4 sc] (20)
7. [5 sc], 11 sc, [4 sc] (20)
8. [3 sc, inc, sc], 2 sc, inc, (3 sc, inc) x2, [3 sc, inc] (25)
9. [6 sc], 14 sc, [5 sc] (25)
10. [6 sc], 14 sc, [5 sc] (25)
11. [3 sc, dec], (3 sc, dec) x4 (20)
12. (2 sc, dec) x5 (15)

Fasten off, sew hole closed





Arms (make 2)

Ch 6, 1 ss, (ch 2, 1 ss then ss in chain for first finger) x 2, 4 ss up original chain

Legs (make 2)

Ch 10, 1 ss, (ch 2, 1 ss then ss in chain for first finger) x 2, 8 ss up original chain


 

Attaching Parts


Just sew the arms and legs so they're outstretched, and you're done!
