Goose - Free Pattern


This silly little goose has long legs for added cuteness! If you weigh down his bum, he'll sit politely on shelves or tables with his legs danging over the edge.

Materials

  • Yarn (I used Loops & Threads Soft Classic Solid yarn)
  • Crochet hook (I used a 4.5mm hook)
  • Safety eyes
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stuffing
  • Stitch marker
  • Scissors

 

Abbreviations (US terms)

  • ch - chain
  • sc - single crochet
  • inc - increase
  • dec - decrease
  • hdc - half double crochet
  • dc - double crochet
  • tc - triple crochet
  • ss - slip stitch
  • FLO - front loops only
  • BLO - back loops only
  • mc - magic circle
  • (...) - repeat the part in parenthesis specified number of time
  • (#) - number of stitches after finishing the round

 

Finished Size

Approximately 3.5 inches tall, or 6 inches with the feet included. May be different for everyone based on yarn thickness, hook size, and tension.

5-8. Sc around (do 4 times) (21)
9. Sc 6, dec 3, sc 9 (18)
10. Sc 4, dec 3, sc 8 (15)
11-12. Sc around (do 2 times) (15) stuff head
13. Inc, sc 12, inc 2 (18)
14. Sc, inc, sc 12, inc, sc, inc (21)
15. Inc, sc 12, inc, sc 2, inc, sc 2 (24)

Fasten off, close the remaining loops and hide the tail.


Beak:

In yellow
1. 4 mc (4)

Fasten off, and leave a tail for sewing.



Feet (make 2):

In yellow
Chain 6
1. Skip the first chain, sc along (5)
2. Chain 1 and turn, dec, sc, dec (3)
3. Dec with all three stitches (1)
Chain 10
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.



Wings (make 2):

1. 6 mc (6)
2. Inc x6 (12)
3. (Sc, inc)x6 (18)
4. Sc 6, inc 3, sc 9 (21)
Fasten off, and leave a tail for sewing.



Attaching Parts

Sew the beak between the eyes, a few stitches away from each eye.

Sew the wings to the sides of the body, making sure they're roughly symmetrical. I like to only sew the top half of the wing down so the bottom half can stick out a little bit.



Sew the legs on the underside.

  1. hi, i believe you missed a stitch on row 14 for the main body, as there is only 14 stitches listed for 15 . Would it be possible to amend the pattern? thank you!
