Goat - Free Pattern

 

Goats are always my favourite part of visiting a farm, so I decided to make one of my own! They’re so silly and social! I love watching them play and frolic. This is an alternate version of my puppy pattern here, so check that out if you enjoyed this pattern!

Goat

Materials

  • Yarn (I used Loops & Threads Soft Classic Solid yarn)
  • Crochet hook (I used a 4.5mm hook)
  • Safety eyes
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stuffing
  • Stitch marker
  • Scissors

 

Abbreviations (US terms)

  • ch - chain
  • sc - single crochet
  • inc - increase
  • dec - decrease
  • hdc - half double crochet
  • dc - double crochet
  • tc - triple crochet
  • ss - slip stitch
  • FLO - front loops only
  • BLO - back loops only
  • mc - magic circle
  • (...) - repeat the part in parenthesis specified number of time
  • (#) - number of stitches after finishing the round

 

Finished Size

2 inches long. May be different for everyone based on yarn thickness, hook size, and tension.


Pattern Instructions 

Body:

In white
1. 6 mc (6)
2. Inc x6 (12)
3. (Sc, inc)x6 (18)
4. (Sc 2, Inc)x6 (24)
5. (Sc 3, Inc)x6 (30)
6-11. Sc around (30) (do 6 times)
12. BLO sc around (30)
13. 3 sc, dec, bob, 2 sc, dec, 3 sc, skip 1 stitch and bob in next, 3 sc, dec, 1 sc, bob, 1 sc, dec, 3 sc, skip 1 stitch and bob in next (24) adjust position based on tension and face position, keep doing (3 sc, dec) though
14. (2 sc, dec) x6) (18) start stuffing
15. (sc, dec) x6 (12)
16. dec x6 (6)


Ears (make 2):

In white
Chain 4
Skip the first chain, sc in the next 3
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.


Horns (make 2):

In tan
Chain 7
Skip the first chain, ss, inc in the rest of the chains.
Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.
 


Tail:

Chain 4
Skip the first chain, sc in the next 3
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.



Attaching Parts

Sew the horns in place on top of the head, then sew the ears a stitch below them


Add the tail to the middle of the bum, higher up near the lower back
