Sitting Flower - Free Pattern

 

Flowers with cute round bodies and tiny little legs! They're the perfect size and shape for sitting in your palm, or next to you while you make a flower crown. Change up the colours and which type of petals you use to make whatever your favourite flower is!


Sitting Flower

Materials

  • Yarn (I used Loops & Threads Soft Classic Solid yarn)
  • Crochet hook (I used a 4.5mm hook)
  • Safety eyes
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stuffing
  • Stitch marker
  • Scissors

 

Abbreviations (US terms)

  • ch - chain
  • sc - single crochet
  • inc - increase
  • dec - decrease
  • hdc - half double crochet
  • dc - double crochet
  • tc - triple crochet
  • ss - slip stitch
  • FLO - front loops only
  • BLO - back loops only
  • mc - magic circle
  • (...) - repeat the part in parenthesis specified number of time
  • (#) - number of stitches after finishing the round

 

Finished Size

3 inches tall. May be different for everyone based on yarn thickness, hook size, and tension.

 


Pattern Instructions 

Middle ("face"):

In yellow or brown
1. 6 mc (6),
2. (Inc)x6 (12),
3. (Sc, inc)x6 (18),
4. (Sc 2, inc)x6 (24),
5. BLO sc around (24), embroider face
6. (Sc 2, dec)x6 (18),
7. (Sc, dec)x6 (12),
8. (Dec)x6 (6),
Fasten off and close the hole.



Daisy petals:

Attach secondary colour to the front loops left behind by round 5 of the middle
(Ss, [hdc, dc in one stitch], [dc, hdc in one stitch], ss)x6
Fasten off and hide the tail.


Sunflower petals:

Attach secondary colour to the front loops left behind by round 5 of the middle
(Chain 4 then sc 3 down the chain, ss)x12

Fasten off and hide the tail.



Body:

In green
1. 6 mc (6),
2. (Inc)x6 (12),
3. (Sc, inc)x6 (18),
4. (Sc 2, inc)x6 (24),
5-8. Sc around (24) x4,
9. (Sc 2, dec)x6 (18),
10. Sc around (18),
11. (Sc, dec)x6 (12),
Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

Feet (make 2):

In green
1. 6 mc (6),
2. Sc around (6),
Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.



Attaching Parts

Sew the body to the back of the head, toward the bottom of the head.


 Sew the feet on to the front of the body. Place them quite far apart from each other.
