Cat Cupcake - Free Pattern

A cat cupcake! Is it a catcake? A cupcat? Whatever you want to call it, it's cute! You can have so much fun with this pattern, making different toppings like a cherry or whipped cream, different coloured sprinkles, syrup drizzle, anything you want!


Cat Cupcake

Materials

  • Yarn (I used Loops & Threads Soft Classic Solid yarn)
  • Crochet hook (I used a 4.5mm hook)
  • Safety eyes
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stuffing
  • Stitch marker
  • Scissors

 

Abbreviations (US terms)

  • ch - chain
  • sc - single crochet
  • inc - increase
  • dec - decrease
  • hdc - half double crochet
  • dc - double crochet
  • tc - triple crochet
  • ss - slip stitch
  • FLO - front loops only
  • BLO - back loops only
  • mc - magic circle
  • (...) - repeat the part in parenthesis specified number of time
  • (#) - number of stitches after finishing the round

 

Finished Size

2.5 inches tall. May be different for everyone based on yarn thickness, hook size, and tension.

 

Pattern Instructions 

 Top Half

Starting in top colour
1. 6 mc (6)
2. Inc x6 (12)
3. (Sc, inc) x6 (18)
4. (2 sc, inc) x6 (24)
5 - 8. Sc around (24) (do 4 times)
9. FLO ([3 hdc in same stitch], ss) x12

Fasten off top colour


Bottom Half

10. Reattach with bottom colour in back loops from round 10, sc around (24)
11 - 13. In both loops, Sc around (24) (do 3 times)
14. BLO sc around (24) add face, ears, tail, sprinkles (see Attaching Parts section)
15. In both loops, (2 sc, Dec) x6 (18)
16. (Sc, dec) x6 (12)
17. Dec x6 (6)



 

Ears

In top colour
1. 4 mc (4)
2. (Sc, inc) x2 (6)
3. (2 sc, inc) x2 (8)
Fasten off, leave a tail for sewing



Tail

In top colour
Ch 6, slip the first chain and sc in next 5 chains




Attaching Parts

Attach the ears to the top of the head on either side first, then sew short (~1 stitch long) lines around between them for sprinkles.

After that, you can add the tail just above where the "skirt" of the cupcake is
