Koala - Free Pattern

Koalas are always a favourite when it comes to zoo animals! Big ears and big noses, what's not to love?


Koala

Materials

  • Yarn (I used Loops & Threads Soft Classic Solid yarn)
  • Crochet hook (I used a 4.5mm hook)
  • Safety eyes
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stuffing
  • Stitch marker
  • Scissors

 

Abbreviations (US terms)

  • ch - chain
  • sc - single crochet
  • inc - increase
  • dec - decrease
  • hdc - half double crochet
  • dc - double crochet
  • tc - triple crochet
  • ss - slip stitch
  • FLO - front loops only
  • BLO - back loops only
  • mc - magic circle
  • (...) - repeat the part in parenthesis specified number of time
  • (#) - number of stitches after finishing the round

 

Finished Size

Adult is 4 inches tall, baby is just under 3 inches tall. May be different for everyone based on yarn thickness, hook size, and tension.

    Ch 4
    Inc, sc, triple inc, 2 sc (8)
Ss into first stitch, fasten off, leave a tail for sewing


Head

In grey

    4. (2 sc, inc) x6 (24)
    5. (3 sc, inc) x6 (30)
    6 - 11. Sc around (30)
    12. (3 sc, dec) x6 (24) attach nose and eyes
    13. (2 sc, Dec) x6 (18)
Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing



Body

In grey

Attaching Parts

 Sew the body to the head.

Flatten the ears, and sew them to the sides of the head.

 



Add the arms just below where the head meets the body, and the legs to the bottom of the body.

Attaching Parts

Sew the nose and ears to the head.
