Canada Goose - Free Pattern

Most people find the canada goose to be a bit scary, since they're so protective of their babies, but I find them cute! They're so big, making them the perfect size to hug! This pattern is a variation of my duck pattern. I also have another goose pattern here!


Canada Goose

Materials

  • Yarn (I used Loops & Threads Soft Classic Solid yarn)
  • Crochet hook (I used a 4.5mm hook)
  • Safety eyes
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stuffing
  • Stitch marker
  • Scissors

 

Abbreviations (US terms)

  • ch - chain
  • sc - single crochet
  • inc - increase
  • dec - decrease
  • hdc - half double crochet
  • dc - double crochet
  • tc - triple crochet
  • ss - slip stitch
  • FLO - front loops only
  • BLO - back loops only
  • mc - magic circle
  • (...) - repeat the part in parenthesis specified number of time
  • (#) - number of stitches after finishing the round

 

Finished Size

4.5 inches long, and 4 inches tall. May be different for everyone based on yarn thickness, hook size, and tension.

Head

In black
1. 6 mc
2. Inc x6 (12)
3. (Sc, inc) x6 (18)
4. (2 sc, inc) x6 (24)
5-10. Sc around (24) (6 times)
11. (2 sc, dec) x6 (18) add eyes, bill, and stuffing
12. (Sc, dec) x6 (12)
Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing

Bill

In dark grey
1. 6 mc
2. (Sc, inc) x3 (9)
3. Sc around (9)
Fasten off, flatten and sew to head between rounds 7 and 8

Body

In brown
1. 6 mc
2. Inc x6 (12)
3. (Sc, inc) x6 (18)
4. (2 sc, inc) x2, sc, triple inc, sc, (2 sc, inc) x3 (25)
5. 9 sc, inc, triple inc, inc, 13 sc (29)

9. 12 sc, 3 dec, 15 sc (30)

12. 4 sc, skip 12 and sc into 13th stitch from where you are, sc in next 7 stitches (12) stuff then sew back closed with a piece of brown yarn. Continue working on neck (where your hook is currently in). Change to black yarn

Fasten off, sew hole closed, bring yarn tail out near the top of the wing for sewing

Attaching Parts

Start by sewing the bill to the front of the head, then attach the white patches next to it. 



Sew the head to the body, making sure the face is centred properly in relation to the back, then sew the wings to either side of the body.

Raccoon - Free Pattern

Raccoons are one of the cutest North American animals, in my opinion! This raccoon pattern has a lot of colour changes for the head part, so it can be a little tricky to manage.
